Why the Statutory Clock Is the Whole Game


The single biggest lever in SolarOS is how seriously it treats the approval clock. Regulatory submissions are gated for completeness before they go out, so nothing bounces back for a missing document weeks into the process. The statutory clock on each application is tracked automatically, and when a utility misses its own response deadline, SolarOS captures deemed-approval evidence — the documentation needed to show the approval should be treated as granted, even if the utility never formally responded.

SolarOS is explicit that it isn't competing with installers for the customer relationship. Installers keep their brand — the customer-facing experience can be white-labeled as their own — and there's no subscription or upfront fee. Instead, SolarOS takes a small charge per site once it's live, offset by the working capital the platform frees up, plus a shared income stream from pooling and selling the RECs generated by an installer's finished projects — revenue from jobs the installer has already delivered, that would otherwise be left on the table. In exchange, SolarOS handles the parts installers generally don't want to own long-term: permits, net-metering filings, REC registration and sale, compliance, and reporting, end to end.
