All the systems and the data transfer in the BPA system can be monitored using the web portal and activity monitoring tools.

Typical hierarchy of the BPA system
    • Punchout (eCommerce)

Punchout in eCommerce simply means accessing other domain (website) from a web application. It eliminates the need for suppliers to send whole catalogs to buying organizations. Instead, suppliers send just short index files that name their storefronts (store information), product categories, or products.

Let say you have a website that sells computer parts and products, which are memory, printers supplies, desktop computers and servers, rather than providing these entire product catalogs, we can use existing website that sells printer supplies.

    • BizTalk (B2B eCommerce)

      Punchout with BizTalk
Punchout is a mechanism that allows procurement (ecommerce) systems to direct employees to supplier websites to shop for items while still retaining context & knowledge of the buying system. After shopping & configuring, employees "check-out" through their regular procurement system. Cxml is the standard communication medium used for the transfer of data between the procurement and supplier system BizTalk is been used as the mediator between the procurement and supplier system.

There are 3 steps in the Punchout
      • Setup request:- it’s the request from buyer to supplier as the employee "punches in" to the supplier website to shop and supplier will response to buyer acknowledging request & returning web store URL for employee to shop at
      • Shopping Cart Response :- from supplier to buyer concluding shopping experience and returning items selected for purchase
      • Order Request :- buyer to supplier for the creation of order for the shopping cart
